Here comes another sizzlin' hot summer for
the Southwest. Some wines are more suited to hot weather more than
others. As we choose lighter foods over heavy, your wine choice should
follow suit.
4 oz white wine
6 oz soda - stick to the lemon/lime sodas 1/2 oz grapefruit juice 1/2 oz pineapple juice 1/2 oz lime juice 1/2 oz lemon juice First mix your fruit juices together in a mixing glass. Pour the white wine into a chilled wine glass, and top with the soda. Then add the juice mixture, and serve. Sangria Starter Recipe - by the pitcher
1 Bottle of Red Wine
Pour wine into the pitcher. Cut the
lemon, orange and lime into wedges, pick out seeds that are
visible. Gently squeeze the juice from each wedge into the
pitcher, then add each wedge into the pitcher. Add the
pineapple, the sugar, orange juice to taste, and the gin. Chill
overnight for the best taste. Before serving, add ginger ale,
sliced berries/fruit and pour over ice in chilled glasses. If
you are serving immediately instead of chilling, you will need
to use a lot of ice.
